George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA), 41-34 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, George Wythe upgrades its record to 16-2 on the campaign. The Maroons host Blacksburg (Blacksburg, VA) to play the Bruins in a non-league bout on Wednesday, February 1. The Bruins come into the bout with a record of 12-5. Blacksburg lost 61-43 in their recent non-league bout against Pulaski County (Dublin, VA)

Next up, the Bears play the Montcalm Generals (Montcalm, WV) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 30. Bland County will attempt to upgrade on its 12-5 season record.
