The Leland Cubs (Leland, MS) basketball nipped the visiting Shaw Warriors (Shaw, MS), 35-34 in Saturday's league test.

The Cubs (3-17) will now prepare for their test against Simmons (Hollandale, MS). The Blue Devils go into the 1A Region 5 test with a 7-11 record. In their last test, Simmons got by West Bolivar (Rosedale, MS), 60-41, in a league test.

The Warriors now own a 4-18 record. They play next when they host South Delta for a 1A Region 5 test on Monday, January 29. Shaw will clash with a Bulldogs squad coming off a 65-54 league win over Simmons (Hollandale, MS). The Bulldogs record now stands at 14-5.
