Northeast Lauderdale Trojans (Meridian, MS) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Kemper County Wildcats (DeKalb, MS), 40-39 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Northeast Lauderdale upgrades its record to 12-10 on the season. The Trojans travel to Newton County (Decatur, MS) to clash with the Cougars in a 4A Region 4 bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 11-10. Newton County won 43-19 in their recent league bout against West Lauderdale (Collinsville, MS)

Next up, the Wildcats clash with the McLaurin Tigers (Florence, MS) in a 3A Region 5 bout, on Monday, January 29. Kemper County will attempt to upgrade on its 10-7 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 2-18 record after their 50-32 league loss to Enterprise (Enterprise, MS).
