The Hempfield Area Spartans basketball team scored 58 points and limited the host Connellsville Falcons to 36 in the Spartans league triumph on Monday.

The Spartans now possess a 9-8 record. They play next when they host Kiski Area for a non-league game on Wednesday, January 29.

With the loss, Connellsville falls to 2-13 on the campaign. The Falcons host Upper St. Clair (Upper St. Clair, PA) to confront the Panthers in a WPIAL 6A 2 game on Thursday, January 30. The Panthers go into the game with a record of 11-5. Upper St. Clair lost 56-47 in their recent non-league game against Norwin (North Huntingdon, PA)
