Southwest Patriots (Macon, GA) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Rutland Hurricanes (Macon, GA), 71-69 in a league bout.

With the victory, Southwest upgrades its record to 8-12 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Spencer (Columbus, GA) to play the Greenwave in a AA Region 2 bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Greenwave come into the bout with a record of 17-4. Spencer won 81-36 in their recent league bout against Jordan (Columbus, GA)

Next up, the Hurricanes play the Jordan Red Jackets (Columbus, GA) in a AA Region 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 31. Rutland will attempt to upgrade on its 7-12 season record. The Red Jackets come into the bout with a 3-14 record after their 81-36 league loss to Spencer (Columbus, GA).
