Sandia Matadors (Albuquerque, NM) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Piedra Vista Panthers (Farmington, NM), 53-48 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Sandia upgrades its record to 6-6 on the campaign. The Matadors travel to West Mesa (Albuquerque, NM) to play the Mustangs in a non-league bout on Wednesday, February 1. The Mustangs come into the bout with a record of 10-3.

Next up, the Panthers play the Farmington Scorpions (Farmington, NM) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 30. Piedra Vista will attempt to upgrade on its 12-6 season record. The Scorpions come into the bout with a 17-0 record after their 45-36 non-league win over La Cueva (Albuquerque, NM).
