The Gehlen Catholic Jays (Le Mars, IA) basketball edged the host Akron-Westfield Westerners (Akron, IA), 55-49 in Tuesday's league bout.
The Jays now possess a 10-7 record. They play next when they host St. Mary's for a War Eagle bout on Friday, January 31. Gehlen Catholic will play a Hawks team coming off a 65-42 league win over Hinton (Hinton, IA). The Hawks record now stands at 14-3.
With the loss, Akron-Westfield falls to 5-13 on the campaign. The Westerners travel to West Sioux (Hawarden, IA) to play the Falcons in a War Eagle bout on Friday, January 31. The Falcons go into the bout with a record of 4-11. West Sioux lost 60-49 in their recent non-league bout against West Monona (Onawa, IA)
