In Tuesday's non-league contest, the host Belfast Lions basketball team scored a close 44-39 win over the Waterville Panthers.
The Lions (8-7) will now prepare for their contest against Lincoln Academy (Newcastle, ME). The Eagles come into the non-league contest with a 11-5 record. In their last contest, Lincoln Academy edged Leavitt (Turner, ME), 56-44, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Panthers battle the Winslow Black Raiders (Winslow, ME) in a non-league contest, on Thursday, January 30. Waterville will attempt to better on its 2-14 season record. The Black Raiders come into the contest with a 10-7 record after their 50-45 league win over Maine Central Institute (Pittsfield, ME).
