Spectators at Tuesday's league contest between the Sparta Spartans (Sparta, WI) and the host La Crosse Central Riverhawks (La Crosse, WI), saw Sparta's basketball team thwart La Crosse Central by a margin of 52-43.

The Spartans (11-5) will now prepare for their contest against Onalaska (Onalaska, WI). The Hilltoppers go into the Mississippi Valley contest with a 13-4 record. In their last contest, Onalaska topped Medford (Medford, WI), 60-37, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Riverhawks battle the Tomah Timberwolves (Tomah, WI) in a Mississippi Valley contest, on Friday, January 31. La Crosse Central will attempt to better on its 7-6 season record. The Timberwolves go into the contest with a 6-7 record after their 69-56 league win over La Crosse Logan (La Crosse, WI).
