The crowd at Tuesday's league challenge between the Madisonville Mustangs (Madisonville, TX) and the visiting Rusk Eagles (Rusk, TX), observed Madisonville's basketball team overcome Rusk by a score of 71-52.

The Mustangs (20-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Hudson (Lufkin, TX). The Hornets come into the 4A Region III District 17 challenge with a 14-15 record. In their last challenge, Hudson defeated Palestine (Palestine, TX), 39-32, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Eagles battle the Center Roughriders (Center, TX) in a 4A Region III District 17 challenge, on Friday, January 31. Rusk will attempt to improve on its 12-13 season record. The Roughriders come into the challenge with a 14-8 record after their 68-57 league loss to Bullard (Bullard, TX).
