In Tuesday's league test, the Mellen Granite Diggers (Mellen, WI) basketball squad trounced the visiting Washburn Castle Guards (Washburn, WI), by a score of 54-32.

Next, the Granite Diggers encounter the Butternut Midgets (Butternut, WI) in a Northern Lights test, on Friday, January 31. Mellen will attempt to improve on its 13-2 season record. The Midgets come into the test with a 0-11 record after their 60-3 league loss to Lac Courte Oreilles (Hayward, WI).

The Castle Guards (7-7) will now prepare for their test against Phillips (Phillips, WI). The Loggers come into the non-league test with a 8-4 record. In their last test, Phillips bounced Chequamegon (Park Falls, WI), 63-58, in a league test.
