Charles City Comets (Charles City, IA) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Waterloo East Trojans (Waterloo, IA), 74-60 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Charles City upgrades its record to 10-8 on the campaign. The Comets host New Hampton (New Hampton, IA) to play the Chickasaws in a Northeast Iowa bout on Friday, February 2. The Chickasaws come into the bout with a record of 2-15. New Hampton won 62-59 in their recent non-league bout against Central Springs (Manly, IA)

Next up, the Trojans play the Lincoln Railsplitters (Des Moines, IA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Waterloo East will attempt to upgrade on its 6-13 season record. The Railsplitters come into the bout with a 4-6 record after their 66-42 non-league loss to Urbandale (Urbandale, IA).
