Drew Central Pirates (Monticello, AR) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Smackover Buckaroos (Smackover, AR), 68-51 in a league bout.

With the win, Drew Central upgrades its record to 12-10 on the season. The Pirates host Dumas (Dumas, AR) to play the Bobcats in a 3A Region 8 bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Bobcats go into the bout with a record of 18-4. Dumas won 61-32 in their recent league bout against Smackover (Smackover, AR)

Next up, the Buckaroos play the McGehee Owls (McGehee, AR) in a 3A Region 8 bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Smackover will attempt to upgrade on its 7-12 season record. The Owls go into the bout with a 18-3 record after their 75-59 league win over Harmony Grove (Camden, AR).
