Hoxie Mustangs (Hoxie, AR) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Newport Greyhounds (Newport, AR), 76-48 in a league bout.

With the victory, Hoxie upgrades its record to 6-12 on the campaign. The Mustangs host Melbourne (Melbourne, AR) to play the Bearkatz in a 3A Region 2 bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Bearkatz come into the bout with a record of 12-10. Melbourne won 67-45 in their recent league bout against Walnut Ridge (Walnut Ridge, AR)

Next up, the Greyhounds play the Cedar Ridge Timberwolves (Newark, AR) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 29. Newport will attempt to upgrade on its 4-18 season record. The Timberwolves come into the bout with a 21-5 record after their 86-51 league win over White County Central (Judsonia, AR).
