Unaka Rangers (Elizabethton, TN) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Johnson County Longhorns (Mountain City, TN), 78-67 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Unaka upgrades its record to 8-12 on the season. The Rangers host University (Johnson City, TN) to play the Buccaneers in a 1A District 1 bout on Friday, February 2. The Buccaneers go into the bout with a record of 13-7.

Next up, the Longhorns play the Hampton Bulldogs (Hampton, TN) in a 2A District 1 bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Johnson County will attempt to upgrade on its 3-17 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 10-9 record after their 62-57 non-league win over University (Johnson City, TN).
