The Newport Grizzlies basketball team scored 59 points and limited the visiting Chewelah Cougars to 48 in the Grizzlies league triumph on Wednesday.

The Grizzlies now have a 1-15 record. They play next when they travel to Priest River for a non-league game on Friday, January 31. Newport will confront a Spartans team coming off a 53-38 league loss to Orofino (Orofino, ID). The Spartans record now stands at 10-3.

With the loss, Chewelah falls to 5-12 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Northwest Christian School (Colbert, WA) to encounter the Crusaders in a 2B Bi-County challenge on Saturday, February 1. The Crusaders come into the challenge with a record of 13-4. Northwest Christian School won 66-17 in their recent league challenge against Newport (Newport, WA)
