The crowd at Wednesday's league challenge between the Sussex Central Tigers (Sussex, VA) and the host Surry County Cougars (Dendron, VA), observed Sussex Central's basketball team knock off Surry County by a score of 35-21.

The Tigers (2-9) will now prepare for their challenge against Brunswick (Lawrenceville, VA). The Bulldogs come into the Tri-Rivers challenge with a 10-2 record. In their last challenge, Brunswick prevailed over Franklin (Franklin, VA), 61-15, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Cougars encounter the Appomattox Regional Governor's Arts & Tech Dragons (Petersburg, VA) in a Tri-Rivers challenge, on Friday, January 31. Surry County will attempt to improve on its 0-17 season record. The Dragons come into the challenge with a 4-8 record after their 39-8 league loss to Greensville County (Emporia, VA).
