Aquinas Blugolds (La Crosse, WI) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Sparta Spartans (Sparta, WI), 82-68 in a league bout.

With the victory, Aquinas upgrades its record to 8-5 on the campaign. The Blugolds travel to Onalaska (Onalaska, WI) to play the Hilltoppers in a Mississippi Valley bout on Friday, January 6. The Hilltoppers come into the bout with a record of 5-3. Onalaska lost 57-53 in their recent non-league bout against Madison La Follette (Madison, WI)

Next up, the Spartans play the Tomah Timberwolves (Tomah, WI) in a Mississippi Valley bout, on Saturday, January 7. Sparta will attempt to upgrade on its 3-9 season record. The Timberwolves come into the bout with a 3-7 record after their 65-58 league loss to La Crosse Logan (La Crosse, WI).
