The Black River Pirates basketball team scored 71 points and restricted the host Wellington Dukes to 44 in the Pirates league victory on Tuesday.

The Pirates now sport a 6-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Firelands for a Lorain County 8 contest on Friday, January 6. Black River will battle a Falcons team coming off a 65-59 league loss to Columbia (Columbia Station, OH). The Falcons record now stands at 1-7.

The Dukes (2-5) will now prepare for their contest against Brookside (Sheffield, OH). The Cardinals come into the Lorain County 8 contest with a 6-4 record. In their last contest, Brookside triumphed over Oberlin (Oberlin, OH), 81-64, in a league contest.
