Bowie Volunteers (Arlington, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Grand Prairie Gophers (Grand Prairie, TX), 52-44 in a league bout.

With the victory, Bowie upgrades its record to 6-13 on the campaign. The Volunteers travel to Arlington (Arlington, TX) to play the Colts in a 6A Region I District 8 bout on Friday, January 6. The Colts come into the bout with a record of 8-10. Arlington lost 46-44 in their recent non-league bout against Wilmer-Hutchins (Dallas, TX)

Next up, the Gophers play the South Grand Prairie Warriors (Grand Prairie, TX) in a 6A Region I District 8 bout, on Friday, January 6. Grand Prairie will attempt to upgrade on its 5-16 season record. The Warriors come into the bout with a 8-10 record after their 74-59 league loss to Sam Houston (Arlington, TX).
