The Burkeville Mustangs (Burkeville, TX) basketball nipped the visiting Zavalla Eagles (Zavalla, TX), 47-46 in Tuesday's league test.

The Mustangs (4-14) will now prepare for their test against Brookeland (Brookeland, TX). The Wildcats go into the 1A Region IV District 28 test with a 15-4 record. In their last test, Brookeland got by Spurger (Spurger, TX), 81-40, in a league test.

The Eagles now own a 2-14 record. They play next when they host Chester for a 1A Region IV District 28 test on Friday, January 6. Zavalla will encounter a Yellowjackets squad coming off a 35-32 league win over Goodrich (Goodrich, TX). The Yellowjackets record now stands at 10-9.
