Union County Patriots (Maynardville, TN) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they observed their basketball team smash the visiting Cumberland Gap Panthers (Cumberland Gap, TN), 81-47 in a league game.

In their next game, the Patriots face the Hancock County Indians (Sneedville, TN) in a non-league game, on Monday, January 9. Union County will attempt to move on its 4-4 season record. The Indians enter the game with a 0-12 record after their 83-58 league loss to Jellico (Jellico, TN).

With the defeat, Cumberland Gap moves to 0-10 on the year. The Panthers host Claiborne (New Tazewell, TN) to face the Bulldogs in a non-league game on Friday, January 6. The Bulldogs enter the game with a record of 3-8. Claiborne lost 88-51 in their recent non-league game against Middlesboro (Middlesboro, KY)
