Meigs County Tigers (Decatur, TN) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting McMinn County Cherokees (Athens, TN), 53-48 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Meigs County upgrades its record to 5-3 on the season. The Tigers travel to Roane County (Kingston, TN) to play the Yellowjackets in a 2A District 3 bout on Friday, January 6. The Yellowjackets go into the bout with a record of 6-2.

Next up, the Cherokees play the Rhea County Golden Eagles (Evensville, TN) in a non-league bout, on Friday, January 6. McMinn County will attempt to upgrade on its 6-5 season record. The Golden Eagles go into the bout with a 9-4 record after their 59-47 non-league win over Evangelical Christian (Cordova, TN).
