In Wednesday's league outing, the Hughesville Spartans (Hughesville, PA) basketball squad nipped the visiting Warrior Run Defenders (Turbotville, PA), by a margin of 44-43.

The Spartans (6-3) will now prepare for their outing against Southern Columbia Area (Catawissa, PA). The Tigers go into the Heartland III outing with a 2-3 record. In their last outing, Southern Columbia Area was tipped by Mount Carmel (Mount Carmel, PA), 58-52, in a league outing.

The Defenders now own a 5-2 record. They play next when they travel to Loyalsock Township for a Heartland III outing on Friday, January 5. Warrior Run will clash with a Lancers squad coming off a 77-54 league win over Bloomsburg (Bloomsburg, PA). The Lancers record now stands at 7-1.
