Shenango Wildcats (New Castle, PA) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Laurel Spartan (New Castle, PA), 66-46 in a league bout.

With the win, Shenango upgrades its record to 6-2 on the season. The Wildcats host Northgate (Pittsburgh, PA) to play the Flames in a WPIAL 2A 1 bout on Friday, January 5. The Flames go into the bout with a record of 6-2.

Next up, the Spartan play the South Side Rams (Hookstown, PA) in a WPIAL 2A 1 bout, on Friday, January 5. Laurel will attempt to upgrade on its 3-5 season record. The Rams go into the bout with a 6-6 record after their 90-44 league loss to Aliquippa (Aliquippa, PA).
