In Friday's league contest, the visiting Arlington Colts basketball team scored a close 44-37 triumph over the Sam Houston Texans.

The Colts (10-11) will now prepare for their contest against Bowie (Arlington, TX). The Volunteers go into the 6A Region I District 8 contest with a 12-8 record. In their last contest, Bowie nipped Martin (Arlington, TX), 63-54, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Texans battle the Lamar Vikings (Arlington, TX) in a 6A Region I District 8 contest, on Tuesday, January 7. Sam Houston will attempt to better on its 7-14 season record. The Vikings go into the contest with a 7-15 record after their 75-35 league loss to South Grand Prairie (Grand Prairie, TX).
