The Wayne Academy Jaguars (Waynesboro, MS) basketball were winner over the visiting East Rankin Academy Patriots (Pelahatchie, MS), 64-56 in Friday's league bout.

The Jaguars now possess a 11-4 record. They play next when they travel to Presbyterian Christian for a non-league bout on Saturday, January 4. Wayne Academy will play a Bobcats team coming off a 56-51 non-league loss to Morton (Morton, MS). The Bobcats record now stands at 15-4.

With the loss, East Rankin Academy falls to 0-9 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Simpson Academy (Mendenhall, MS) to play the Cougars in a MAIS 5A District 2 bout on Tuesday, January 7. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 12-1. Simpson Academy won 42-41 in their recent league bout against Leake Academy (Madden, MS)
