North Carolina High School Basketball - Wilkes Central nips West Wilkes

The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Wilkes Central Eagles (Wilkesboro, NC) and the visiting West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC), observed Wilkes Central's basketball team edge West Wilkes by a margin of 81-75.

The Eagles (7-6) will now prepare for their challenge against East Surry (Pilot Mountain, NC). The Cardinals come into the 2A Foothills challenge with a 3-6 record. In their last challenge, East Surry was tipped by North Surry (Mount Airy, NC), 84-68, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Blackhawks battle the North Wilkes Vikings (Hays, NC) in a 2A Foothills challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. West Wilkes will attempt to better on its 5-8 season record. The Vikings come into the challenge with a 5-7 record after their 44-29 non-league loss to Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC).
