Gretna Hawks (Gretna, VA) supporters left the game happy Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the host Halifax County Comets (South Boston, VA), 52-46 in a non-league match.

With the victory, Gretna advances its record to 8-3 on the year. The Hawks travel to Prince Edward County (Farmville, VA) to face the Eagles in a non-league match on Wednesday, January 8. The Eagles enter the match with a record of 10-0.

The Comets now own a 4-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host George Washington for a Piedmont match on Tuesday, January 7. Halifax County will face a Eagles squad coming off a 51-22 league win over Martinsville (Martinsville, VA). The Eagles record now stands at 2-5.
