Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC) and the host Thomas Jefferson Gryphons (Mooresboro, NC), saw Owen's basketball squad overcome Thomas Jefferson by a tally of 49-41.

With the victory, Owen improves its record to 10-12 on the campaign. The Warhorses host Avery County (Newland, NC) to confront the Vikings in a 1A/2A Conference 42 challenge on Friday, February 3. The Vikings come into the challenge with a record of 12-8.

The Gryphons now own a 3-16 record. They play next when they travel to Highland Tech for a 1A/2A Conference 40 test on Tuesday, January 31. Thomas Jefferson will encounter a Rams squad coming off a 60-34 league loss to Shelby (Shelby, NC). The Rams record now stands at 5-13.
