North Carolina High School Basketball - NCSSM: Morganton can't hold off Avery County

The Avery County Vikings basketball team scored 69 points and held the visiting NCSSM: Morganton to 66 in the Vikings league triumph on Tuesday.

The Vikings now sport a 6-12 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Mitchell for a 1A/2A Western Highlands contest on Wednesday, January 31. Avery County will battle a Mountaineers team coming off a 72-69 league win over Draughn (Valdese, NC). The Mountaineers record now stands at 11-7.

The (4-10) will now prepare for their contest against Rosman (Rosman, NC). The Tigers enter the 1A/2A Western Highlands contest with a 3-13 record. In their last contest, Rosman was nudged by Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC), 69-31, in a league contest.
