La Marque Cougars (La Marque, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Columbia Roughnecks (West Columbia, TX), 72-32 in a league bout.

With the victory, La Marque upgrades its record to 15-16 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Sweeny (Sweeny, TX) to play the Bulldogs in a 4A Region IV District 26 bout on Friday, February 2. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 15-14. Sweeny won 46-43 in their recent league bout against Bay City (Bay City, TX)

Next up, the Roughnecks play the Brazosport Exporters (Freeport, TX) in a 4A Region IV District 26 bout, on Friday, February 2. Columbia will attempt to upgrade on its 9-18 season record. The Exporters come into the bout with a 3-20 record after their 77-54 league loss to Iowa Colony (Iowa Colony, TX).
