Lovelady Lions (Lovelady, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Leon Cougars (Jewett, TX), 64-43 in a league bout.

With the victory, Lovelady upgrades its record to 7-7 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Grapeland (Grapeland, TX) to play the Sandies in a 2A Region III District 20 bout on Friday, February 2. The Sandies come into the bout with a record of 20-10. Grapeland won 87-39 in their recent league bout against Latexo (Latexo, TX)

Next up, the Cougars play the Groveton Indians (Groveton, TX) in a 2A Region III District 20 bout, on Friday, February 2. Leon will attempt to upgrade on its 5-20 season record. The Indians come into the bout with a 6-15 record after their 65-42 league loss to Centerville (Centerville, TX).
