The Athens Hornets basketball team (Athens, TX), was overwhelmed 46-20 in Tuesday's league battle with the visiting Brownsboro Bears (Brownsboro, TX)
The Bears now possess a 25-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Canton for a 4A Region II District 16 battle on Friday, February 2. Brownsboro will confront a Eagles team coming off a 90-8 league win over Cumberland Academy (Tyler, TX). The Eagles record now stands at 26-5.
The Hornets (5-18) will now prepare for their battle against Van (Van, TX). The Vandals come into the 4A Region II District 16 battle with a 15-9 record. In their last battle, Van trounced Mabank (Mabank, TX), 63-48, in a league battle.
