The Avery Bulldogs (Avery, TX) basketball nipped the visiting Sulphur Bluff Bears (Sulphur Bluff, TX), 53-49 in Tuesday's league test.

The Bulldogs (11-15) will now prepare for their test against Bloomburg (Bloomburg, TX). The Wildcats go into the 1A Region III District 24 test with a 19-8 record.

The Bears now own a 11-18 record. They play next when they host Avinger for a 1A Region III District 24 test on Friday, February 2. Sulphur Bluff will encounter a Indians squad coming off a 62-8 league win over Union Hill (Gilmer, TX). The Indians record now stands at 14-6.
