Gruver Greyhounds (Gruver, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Stratford Elks (Stratford, TX), 43-35 in a league bout.

With the victory, Gruver upgrades its record to 8-9 on the campaign. The Greyhounds travel to Sunray (Sunray, TX) to play the Bobcats in a 2A Region I District 1 bout on Friday, February 2. The Bobcats come into the bout with a record of 18-13. Sunray lost 49-46 in their recent league bout against West Texas (Stinnett, TX)

Next up, the Elks play the Booker Kiowas (Booker, TX) in a 2A Region I District 1 bout, on Friday, February 2. Stratford will attempt to upgrade on its 18-7 season record. The Kiowas come into the bout with a 5-17 record after their 56-13 league loss to Sanford-Fritch (Fritch, TX).
