California High School Basketball - Golden Valley tops El Capitan

January 30, 2024: Merced, CA 95348

Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Golden Valley Cougars (Merced, CA) and the host El Capitan Gauchos (Merced, CA), saw Golden Valley's basketball squad knock off El Capitan by a tally of 40-30.

With the victory, Golden Valley improves its record to 1-7 on the campaign. The Cougars host Central Valley (Ceres, CA) to play the Hawks in a challenge on Tuesday, February 6. The Hawks come into the challenge with a record of 3-8. Central Valley lost 69-19 in their recent league challenge against Atwater (Atwater, CA)

Next up, the Gauchos play the Patterson Tigers (Patterson, CA) in a challenge, on Thursday, February 1. El Capitan will attempt to improve on its 2-15 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 6-2 record after their 43-42 league win over Atwater (Atwater, CA).
