Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Draughn Wildcats (Valdese, NC), 63-23 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Mitchell upgrades its record to 4-1 on the season. The Mountaineers host Avery County (Newland, NC) to play the Vikings in a bout on Wednesday, January 31. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 7-5. Avery County won 37-27 in their recent league bout against Draughn (Valdese, NC)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Madison Patriots (Marshall, NC) in a non-league bout, on Friday, February 2. Draughn will attempt to upgrade on its 1-11 season record. The Patriots go into the bout with a 3-10 record after their 47-34 non-league win over Rosman (Rosman, NC).
