The crowd at Thursday's league challenge between the Onekama Portagers (Onekama, MI) and the host Leland Comets (Leland, MI), observed Onekama's basketball team overcome Leland by a margin of 39-21.

The Portagers (11-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Suttons Bay (Suttons Bay, MI). The Norsemen come into the Northwest challenge with a 7-7 record. In their last challenge, Suttons Bay defeated Brethren (Brethren, MI), 47-27, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Comets battle the Benzie Central Huskies (Benzonia, MI) in a Northwest challenge, on Saturday, February 1. Leland will attempt to better on its 2-10 season record. The Huskies come into the challenge with a 8-7 record after their 85-62 league win over Buckley (Buckley, MI).
