In Thursday's non-league contest, the visiting Pelican Rapids Vikings basketball team scored a big 57-25 triumph over the Staples-Motley Cardinals.

The Vikings (13-4) will now prepare for their contest against Hawley (Hawley, MN). The Nuggets go into the AA Section 8 contest with a 8-10 record. In their last contest, Hawley was trounced by Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (Glyndon, MN), 67-48, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Cardinals battle the New York Mills Eagles (New York Mills, MN) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, February 4. Staples-Motley will attempt to better on its 4-16 season record. The Eagles go into the contest with a 13-5 record after their 61-60 non-league win over Wadena-Deer Creek (Wadena, MN).
