In Thursday's league test, the Hempfield Area Spartans (Greensburg, PA) ice hockey squad tipped the host Baldwin Highlanders (Pittsburgh, PA), by a final score of 5-4.

Next, the Spartans face the Penn-Trafford Warriors (Harrison City, PA) in a test, on Monday, February 3. Hempfield Area will attempt to upgrade on its 6-11 season record. The Warriors come into the test with a 16-4 record after their 8-1 league win over Armstrong (Kittanning, PA).

The Highlanders (4-14) will now prepare for their test against Bishop McCort (Johnstown, PA). The Crushers come into the test with a 6-10 record. In their last test, Bishop McCort was edged by Canon-McMillan (Canonsburg, PA), 4-2, in a league test.
