The Watauga Pioneers basketball team (Boone, NC), was nudged 39-37 in Tuesday's league battle with the visiting Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC)

The Cougars now sport a 14-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host South Caldwell for a 3A/4A Conference 52 battle on Friday, February 3. Alexander Central will battle a Spartans team coming off a 73-69 league loss to Freedom (Morganton, NC). The Spartans record now stands at 10-11.

The Pioneers (11-10) will now prepare for their battle against Hibriten (Lenoir, NC). The Panthers come into the 3A/4A Conference 52 battle with a 8-13 record. In their last battle, Hibriten was nudged by Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC), 64-55, in a league battle.
