Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Athens Golden Eagles (Athens, AL) and the host Decatur Red Raiders (Decatur, AL), saw Athens's basketball squad hold off Decatur by a tally of 45-42.
With the victory, Athens improves its record to 18-3 on the campaign. The Golden Eagles host East Limestone (Athens, AL) to confront the Indians in a non-league challenge on Thursday, February 2. The Indians come into the challenge with a record of 14-8. East Limestone won 43-38 in their recent non-league challenge against West Limestone (Lester, AL)
Next up, the Red Raiders confront the Gadsden City Titans (Gadsden, AL) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, February 3. Decatur will attempt to improve on its 7-12 season record. The Titans come into the challenge with a 3-14 record after their 84-54 non-league loss to Guntersville (Guntersville, AL).
