East Gaston Warriors (Mt. Holly, NC) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Bessemer City Yellow Jackets (Bessemer City, NC), 65-52 in a league bout.

With the victory, East Gaston upgrades its record to 17-2 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to Shelby (Shelby, NC) to play the Golden Lions in a 1A/2A Conference 40 bout on Friday, February 3. The Golden Lions come into the bout with a record of 14-5. Shelby won 53-33 in their recent non-league bout against Ashbrook (Gastonia, NC)

Next up, the Yellow Jackets play the Burns Bulldogs (Lawndale, NC) in a 1A/2A Conference 40 bout, on Friday, February 3. Bessemer City will attempt to upgrade on its 13-7 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 11-8 record after their 69-57 league win over Cherryville (Cherryville, NC).
