The Capitan Tigers (Capitan, NM) basketball nipped the visiting Mescalero Apache Chiefs (Mescalero, NM), 41-38 in Tuesday's league test.
The Tigers (8-13) will now prepare for their test against Lordsburg (Lordsburg, NM). The Mavericks go into the 2A District 3 test with a 10-8 record. In their last test, Lordsburg was tipped by Tularosa (Tularosa, NM), 52-47, in a league test.
The Chiefs now own a 6-15 record. They play next when they host Alamo Navajo for a non-league test on Friday, February 3. Mescalero Apache will encounter a Cougars squad coming off a 73-48 league win over Hondo Valley (Hondo, NM). The Cougars record now stands at 16-4.
