Centennial Chargers (Champaign, IL) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Mattoon Greenwave (Mattoon, IL), 42-31 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Centennial upgrades its record to 12-13 on the season. The Chargers travel to Peoria Notre Dame (Peoria, IL) to clash with the Irish in a Big Twelve bout on Friday, February 3. The Irish go into the bout with a record of 13-12. Peoria Notre Dame won 54-41 in their recent non-league bout against Galesburg (Galesburg, IL)

Next up, the Greenwave clash with the Effingham Flaming Hearts (Effingham, IL) in a Apollo bout, on Thursday, February 2. Mattoon will attempt to upgrade on its 6-19 season record. The Flaming Hearts go into the bout with a 10-15 record after their 83-27 non-league win over Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine (Oblong, IL).
