Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC) and the host South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC), saw Freedom's basketball squad hold off South Caldwell by a count of 73-69.

With the victory, Freedom upgrades its record to 16-4 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC) to play the Huskies in a 3A/4A Conference 52 challenge on Friday, February 3. The Huskies come into the challenge with a record of 8-13. Ashe County lost 76-72 in their recent non-league challenge against Draughn (Valdese, NC)

Next up, the Spartans play the Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) in a 3A/4A Conference 52 challenge, on Friday, February 3. South Caldwell will attempt to upgrade on its 10-11 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 14-6 record after their 39-37 league win over Watauga (Boone, NC).
