Menchville Monarchs (Newport News, VA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Woodside Wolverines (Newport News, VA), 58-52 in a league bout.

With the victory, Menchville upgrades its record to 17-0 on the campaign. The Monarchs travel to Heritage (Newport News, VA) to play the Hurricanes in a Peninsula bout on Friday, February 3. The Hurricanes come into the bout with a record of 10-8. Heritage won 84-43 in their recent league bout against Gloucester (Gloucester, VA)

Next up, the Wolverines play the Warwick Raiders (Newport News, VA) in a Peninsula bout, on Friday, February 3. Woodside will attempt to upgrade on its 13-5 season record. The Raiders come into the bout with a 3-14 record after their 53-27 league loss to Kecoughtan (Hampton, VA).
