Wilkes Central Eagles (Wilkesboro, NC) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host North Wilkes Vikings (Hays, NC), 59-54 in a league bout.

With the victory, Wilkes Central upgrades its record to 9-11 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to West Wilkes (Millers Creek, NC) to play the Blackhawks in a 2A Conference 37 bout on Friday, February 3. The Blackhawks come into the bout with a record of 9-12. West Wilkes lost 102-60 in their recent league bout against North Surry (Mount Airy, NC)

Next up, the Vikings play the Surry Central Golden Eagles (Dobson, NC) in a 2A Conference 37 bout, on Friday, February 3. North Wilkes will attempt to upgrade on its 7-13 season record. The Golden Eagles come into the bout with a 15-5 record after their 75-57 non-league loss to Mount Airy (Mount Airy, NC).
