Capitan Tigers (Capitan, NM) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Mescalero Apache Chiefs (Mescalero, NM), 45-27 in a league bout.

With the win, Capitan upgrades its record to 16-5 on the season. The Tigers host Lordsburg (Lordsburg, NM) to clash with the Mavericks in a 2A District 3 bout on Thursday, February 2. The Mavericks go into the bout with a record of 10-7. Lordsburg lost 42-35 in their recent league bout against Tularosa (Tularosa, NM)

Next up, the Chiefs clash with the Alamo Navajo Cougars (Magdalena, NM) in a non-league bout, on Friday, February 3. Mescalero Apache will attempt to upgrade on its 14-7 season record. The Cougars go into the bout with a 15-5 record after their 60-26 league win over Hondo Valley (Hondo, NM).
